Actor-senator Bong Revilla once again held a bloodletting event dubbed “Dugong Alay, Pandugtong Buhay.”
Held on September 18 at the Amoranto Sports Complex in cooperation with the Quezon City government as led by Mayor Joy Belmonte in partnership with the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center and the Lung Center of the Philippines, the effort is part of the veteran actor and public servant’s 58th birthday celebration this year.
“Taon-taon natin ginagawa ito,” said the senator. “It’s our way of helping out those in dire need of blood.”
Among those who joined his cause are volunteers from the Alpha Phi Omega, Agimat Riders, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Marines, Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and Philippine National Police.
He would’ve donated as well like in the past only that he is still recovering from a recent operation.
This is also why he has again postponed his planned return to doing films.
Before the bloodletting, the senator also provided cash assistance to residents of Batasan Hills in Quezon City.
“We distributed 2,000 pesos each through the Assistance for Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) of the DSWD, and it is expected that more than 2,000 people will benefit,” said Bong.
We will also lend financial assistance to at least 2,000 beneficiaries there.”
