Young and budding swimmers from more than 30 swimming clubs under the Philippine Aquatics, Inc. (PAI) are out to make a splash in the ‘Go Full Speedo’ Swim Series long Course Swimming Meet Leg 1 set this weekend, Sept. 21-22 at the Teofilo Yldefonso Swimming pool inside the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Malate, Manila.
Overall championships from classes A, B, C, and D are at stake in the tournament that is still a part of the PAI’s talent identification program under the auspices of Speedo and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
“We’re blessed and grateful for the support of Speedo who once again teamed up with PAI so that we can continue to promote the grassroots development program. This is not only in swimming but in other disciplines of aquatics such as open swimming. It also takes place in different provinces through our regional members,” said PAI Secretary General Batangas 1st District Congressman Eric Buhain.
Leg 2 of the series is set on Oct. 19-20 while Leg 3 is on Nov. 16-17 still on the same venue.
Aside from that, other swimming tournaments are also scheduled in Butuan City, with the CARAGA Series Leg 1 on Oct. 26-27 at FSSU Morelos Campus, and in Cebu City, with the Open Water Swim Championships on Oct. 26 at Dusit Thani seaside.
The series of swimming meets in the province remains part of PAI’s bid to strengthen its search and hone young talents who could reach the national team level. It began with the successful Short Course Leg 1 championship for Central and Northern Luzon last Sep 14-15 in Lingayen, Pangasinan.
