Alexa Ilacad could totally relate to her role in the upcoming family drama movie “Mujigae.”
As Sunny, Alexa will be tasked to look after her niece following the passing of the girl’s mother, something that she isn’t quite keen on.
The actress admitted she wasn’t fond of children in real life.
“Until nagkaroon ako ng mga pamangkin and honestly they changed my life,” she shared.
Working with child actress Ryrie Sophia, who plays the title role in the film, also added to it.
“After working with Ryrie sabi ko ‘a cute rin naman pala sila, ok rin naman pala’ and she’s so mature, kulang na lang mag heart-to-heart na talaga kami like ‘sis!’ Para na kaming magka-tropa sa set, ang saya niya kasama.”
So what did she learn in the course of filming?
“Main takeaway ko is that, it’s actually really hard to be a mother. It takes so much selflessness. Napasabi tuloy ako sa sarili ko, ‘Kaya ko ba ito ever?’”
She made clear though that being a mom is farthest in her mind at this point.
“Wala pa talaga ‘yun sa isip ko talaga, as in, hindi pa ako nag-iisip at all to be a mother or to have a family. It’s not really the priority as of now,” she maintained.
Apparently, Alexa is yet to accomplish many of her dreams.
“I want to build a career, I want to be really really rich and I know, that could be pretty hard. Pero, because of this film, na-open rin naman po ako na parang it’s not so bad naman pala or maybe one day, as long as I am stable and I have a good partner with me, maybe I think I would like to try to have a family or to have a kid.”
Written by Mark Raywin Tome, “Mujigae,” as produced by Unitel Straight Shooters (UXS) and directed by Randolph Longjas, opens exclusively in SM Cinemas Oct. 9.
