Games Tuesday
(Filoil EcoOil Centre)
11 a.m. – SSCR vs CSB
2:30 p.m. – Letran vs San Beda
Back to its winning ways, College of St. Benilde shoots for its sixth victory when it battles a skidding San Sebastian College side on Tuesday, Oct. 1, in NCAA Season 100 men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
The Blazers have proven they have the resilience and courage to bounce back from a stinging loss to Letran last week with 103-78 rout of the Lyceum Pirates last Friday, Sept. 27, in a win that gave them a 5-1 record.
CSB coach Charles Tiu, however, is not taking the Stags lightly even though the Recto-based squad has dropped its last five games after winning their first two games.
Out to lead St. Benilde’s assault is Allen Liwag, who tallied a double-double performance of 22 points and 12 rebounds highlighted by an impressive 10-of-12 clip from the field the last time.
Also expected to deliver is Justine Sanchez, who was perfect from the field – 5-of-5 – and also from charity stripe – 8-of-8 – on the way to 18 points.
The Stags, who are currently tied with the Jose Rizal University Bombers and the Arellano Chiefs, will be bannered by Paeng Are and Tristan Felebrico.
Meanwhile, Letran tries to ride the crest on its tough triple-overtime victory over Perpetual when it collides with defending champion San Beda at 2:30 p.m.
Toting a 5-2 slate, the Knights hope to bolster their hold of second place against a team still reeling from a 72-70 loss to the Chiefs.
That defeat pulled the Red Lions down to the middle of the standings at 3-3.
