Lovi Poe sees no problem taking on roles that allows for a bit of skin-baring.
She has done it several times in the past and she is more than willing to take on more of the same in the future.
The actress explained, “I’m an actress and as much as possible I want to be truthful to the character that I portray. If it means doing, like, intimate scenes, showing some skin, I’m up for it.”
As to so-called moralists who see the effort in a negative light, she said, “I understand and respect their opinion but there are also those who view it as something beautiful, empowering and I cannot disregard them.”
“I do these things mainly because they’re necessary to the story. I am simply being faithful to my craft.”
Is she open to full-on nudity if and when she is tasked to do so?
“Yes,” the actress answered. “I mean, it really depends. If it is actually needed in the sense that it will make the portrayal, the story more realistic, more believable, then yeah, I would, probably.”
Ironically, Lovi doesn’t enjoy watching herself getting intimate with co-stars onscreen.
“Honestly, I’m really super shy when it comes to these things,” she said. “The only time that I really like, sat down and watched myself doing such is in ‘Malaya.’ I really liked it. It was sensual without being gross. I mean, it has a certain romantic feel to it. Maybe because our director (Connie Macatuno) was really collaborative.”
Lovi is reunited with Connie in “Guilty Pleasure,” a film which she co-produced with Regal Entertainment via her and husband Monty Blencowe’s C’est Lovi Productions.
“Direk Connie is one of my favorite directors,” Lovi enthused. “I really love working with her. She knows what she wants and she knows how to get it out of her actors.”
“Guilty Pleasure” is described as a legal drama with a dash of romance, sex.
It sees Lovi sharing several intimate scenes with co-stars JM De Guzman and Jameson Blake.
“Each one is different,” Lovi intimates. “I don’t want to spoil it for you pero I think the ones with JM are a bit sexier, darker, while those with Jameson naman are sweet, light, romantic.”
As co-producer, did Monty have qualms about it?
“No. None at all,” Lovi retorted. “He knows I’m an actress and it’s part of my job and he’s always been very supportive.”
