Muay Thai fighter Islay Erika Bomogao embarks on a journey as she signed with professional mixed martial arts promotion ONE Championship recently.
The 23-year-old Bomogao is set for her much-awaited debut in 100-pound Muay Thai class against Fuu in ONE Friday Fights 86 on Nov. 8, at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
“Yep. I finally made it to ONE Championship,” Bomogao wrote on her social media post.
With her arrival in the Chatri Sityodtong-founded organization, Bomogao became the first homegrown fighter from the Philippines to compete.
The pride of Cordillera region has been winning accolades in local and international Muay Thai tournaments since 2017.
She also etched her name as the first-ever Filipina Muay Thai champion after beating hometown bet Sarah Kwah in Australia a few months ago.
With her title win, Bomogao sealed the No. 1 spot in the 45kg division of the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) rankings.
