Another day, another dominant victory for the Philippines as the Filipino batters dismantled Singapore, 15-0, to advance to the super round of the 14th BFA East Asia Baseball Cup Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Villages in Clark, Pampanga.
The Filipino batters were too classy – both offensively and defensively – as the game was cut short to five innings due to mercy rule after scoring six runs each in the fourth and fifth frames.
It was a fitting sequel to their 13-1 trampling of the Indonesian in the opener last Tuesday.
Junmar Diarao was splendid on the mound as he was tagged only once in a superb four-inning job.
The Filipinos scored two runs in the opening frame then added one in the third before exploding in the fourth and fifth frames.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong and Thailand tallied their second wins after beating their separate rival in Group A.
The Pearl of the Orient edged Cambodia, 5-2, while The Land of Smiles bludgeoned Malaysia, 31-0, also in five innings.
