Businessman-politician-TV host Sam Verzosa is back in the country following a brief stay in New York to participate in an annual marathon event there.
He deemed the effort a “success.”
“Natapos namin e, and that’s important,” he told us.
Note that his participation there is for a good cause.
“Actually, this is the second time na that I participated in the event. Ang maganda this time, kasama ko na si Rhian (Ramos, his actress girlfriend). First time niya and she had fun. Ang main aim namin is to raise funds for Smile Train,” Sam shared.
Smile Train is a non-profit organization and charity providing corrective surgery for children with cleft lips and palates.
Headquartered in New York City and founded in 1999, Smile Train provides free corrective cleft surgery in 87 countries.
“Matagal na tayong supporter ng Smile Train. Isa ito sa ating adhikain kahit noong wala pa tayo sa pulitika,” Sam maintained.
So, how was the experience this time around?
“Masaya kasi nga magkasama kami ni Rhian. Natapos namin ang buong 42 kilometers. Para ma-imagine ninyo e, lagpas pa po ng Bulacan yang layo na yan. Halos Pampanga na.”
“Na-surprise din ako na parang hindi ako napagod, relaxed lang kami ni Rhian. Ang ano lang , medyo may kalamigan doon so nakakapanibago e, may jet lag pa kami.”
Sam is running for the mayoralty post of Manila next year.
He is continuing with his efforts to reach out to supporters in the coming days.
“Actually wala kaming pahinga,” he said. “Ito nga at naka-schedule na kaming bumisita sa Parola sa Tondo para maghatid tulong sa mga kababayan natin doon.”
