Acclaimed filmmaker Mikhail Red and award-winning actress Nadine Lustre continue their winning partnership with “Nokturno,” another horror epic not unike their top-grossing 2022 effort, “Deleter.”
No, they’re just simply mining old ground.
“Nokturno” deviates from the modern psychological thriller that is “Deleter” inasmuch as it is actually very gothic in its approach.
We got the chance to watch it on the big screen recently through a special screening sponsored by GOMO, a mobile service provider operated by Globe Telecom and, we were quite engrossed.
It all starts with Joana (Bea Binene) waking up in the middle of the night to the sound of eerie door knocks.
She would end up dead following an encounter with a hooded figure known simply as the “Kumakatok.”
Joana’s sister Jamie (Nadine), an overseas worker, rushes home to comfort her mother, Lilet (Eula Valdez), and her younger brother, Julius (JJ Quilantang).
Jamie would soon learn that the Kumakatok is actually out to get rid of their whole family.
As Jamie digs deeper into her family’s dark history, she must confront not only the supernatural curse but also her mother’s deteriorating mental state.
Will Jamie find a way to heal and protect her broken family or will the curse claim them all?
Now streaming on Prime Video, “Nokturno,” from Viva Films, Evolve Studios and Studio Viva, also stars Ku Aquino, Wilbert Ross.
