Recently unveiled via a grand shindig are the official trailer and poster of “Uninvited,” Mentorque Productions’ entry to the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
Both prove intriguing, exciting, further heightening anticipation for the film.
Note the film was already making huge buzz prior following announcement that it actually involves three of the country’s biggest movie stars: Vilma Santos, Aga Muhlach, Nadine Lustre.
That the cast also include several familiar, if also very reliable actors, including Mylene Dizon, Lotlot de Leon, Tirso Cruz III, Gabby Padilla, Elijah Canlas, Ketchup Eusebio, Gio Alvarez, Cholo Barretto, Ron Angeles, only added to the hype.
A veteran scribe, one who is usually indifferent to such moves, was actually heard blurting how the film seems to be “pinagkagastusan ng husto,” going on to describe it as “pang-international.”
Well, that is exactly what producer Bryan Diamante wanted to get across.
“We are not just doing these films for local audiences, but for the world,” he said. “We are all about quality films that could make it big globally.”
“We want something that would last, something that the next generation of Pinoys could be proud of.”
But how did it all start really?
According to Vilma, it was she who approached Bryan, conveying her desire to star in a film that would take place within a 24-48 hour period.
Eager to produce a film for Vilma, Bryan agreed, reaching out to film director Dan Villegas and screenwriter Dodo Dayao, asking them to craft something that would allow for the same.
Ultimately, they came up with “Uninvited.”
“Isa ito sa mga matagal ko na gawin pero hindi ko lang alam kung paano,” said Vilma. “Thankfully, with the help of Bryan, Direk Dan and Dodo, my dream finally came true.”
The story revolves around Eva Candelaria (Vilma), a woman who had been waiting for the longest time to avenge the death of her daughter in the hands of billionaire Guilly Vega (Aga).
She finally got her chance with Guilly organizing a lavish party which she crashes. There, she will discover more than what she bargained for meeting Guilly’s daughter Nicole (Nadine).
“Uninvited” as distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, opens in theaters December 25.
