The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will reset to either Monday, Dec. 2, or Tuesday, Dec. 3, the appearance before the bureau of Vice President Sara Duterte to shed light on her publicly aired threat to kill President Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez in the event she, herself, is killed.
Vice President Duterte had earlier asked the NBI to reset her appearance scheduled on Friday, Nov. 29, because she would attend the hearing of the House of Representatives Committee on Good Governance on the same day.
“Sa aking palagay maaari naman pagbigyan ‘yung resetting, rescheduling dahil sa tingin ko meron ibang naunang engagement si Vice President sa Kongreso kung hindi ako nagkakamali ,” said Department of Justice (DOJ) Undersecretary Jesse Hermogenes Andres.
“Bibigyan natin s’ya ng lahat ng pagkakataon para makapaglahad ng kanyang pahayag sa NBI,” Andres assured.
“Most probably that would be early next week. Because of the urgency, we have to do it much earlier, probably Monday or Tuesday,” he also said.
The subpoena issued by the NBI asked Duterte to shed light on alleged grave threats under the Revised Penal Code and possible violation of Republic Act No. 11479, the Anti-Terrorism Law.
Andres said “we will do a whole of government approach here to get to the bottom of the truth.”
He said law enforcement agencies, including the intelligence community, are working to identify who the Vice President hired to kill the President, the First Lady, and Speaker of the House in the event of her death.
“May kakayanan ang gobyerno na malaman ang identity ng kinausapna ‘yan in due time,” he assured. (Jeff Damicog)
