Arvin Tolentino starred with a triple-double as NorthPort trounced Terrafirma, 113-101 to go 2-0 in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo on Saturday, Nov. 30.
Tolentino led the assault with 21 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists as the Batang Pier dominated the luckless Dyip who was forced to play all-Filipino in the contest due to an injury to its import.
Without his counterpart, NorthPort import Kadeem Jack took advantage and threw his weight around inside the paint to finish with 32 points.
Vic Manuel proved he has plenty of gas left in the tank as he tried to carry the fight for the Dyip with 23 points and five rebounds in a rousing debut in Terrafirma uniform. His effort, as well as the 21 points from rookie Mark Nonoy all went down the drain.
Meanwhile, NLEX made sure it won’t commit the same mistakes from its first game as the Road Warriors took a 107-95 win over Blackwater.
Unlike in their first game where they squandered a big lead, the Road Warriors took care of business from start to finish with Robert Bolick bouncing back from a forgettable debut.
He finished with 23 points and 10 assists – a far cry from his three points on 1-of-11 shooting performance in NLEX’s 114-87 loss to NorthPort.
Import Michael Griffin-Watkins had 26 points and 25 rebounds to match the explosive showing from Blackwater reinforcement George King who poured 40 points. The Bossing, however, were missing the services of star guard Sedrick Barefield.
