Actress Nerizza Naig-Miranda was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) confirmed yesterday.
BJMP spokesperson Supt. Jayrex Bustinera said the move was in compliance with the order of a Pasay City court where the actress is facing a case of syndicated estafa.
“PDL (persons deprived of liberty) Miranda was committed to Pasay City Jail Female Dormitory on 27 November 2024 by virtue of the commitment order issued by the court for the case of syndicated estafa,” Bustinera said.
“The court order was issued at the request of PDL Miranda’s lawyer,” he added.
In an interview, Bustinera stated that Miranda is still in the hospital and will remain at the health facility for “not more than five days.”
“Wala pa definite day babalik (Miranda) sa jail. Depende sa evaluation ng doctors, pero not more than five days,” Bustinera clarified.
Miranda was arrested by the police last week based on the arrest warrant issued by the court.
Her husband, Parokya ni Edgar lead singer Chito Miranda, earlier denied the allegations raised against his wife.
Bustinera, meanwhile, said Miranda never received any preferential treatment and was treated like any other ordinary PDL, stressing that “yung pagdala niya (Miranda) sa hospital was in compliance with the court order.
