ILOILO CITY – The Police Regional Office-6 has warned law enforcement officers in the Western Visayas region against posting videos on the social media platform TikTok while on duty.
Those who violate the order could face administrative charges, warned PRO-6 chief Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky.
He stated that their uniform should be respected and not used as a tool to degrade the image of the Philippine National Police.
“For personal purposes, wearing a uniform in this (social media) content is strictly prohibited,” Wanky emphasized.
Wanky issued the reminder to police officers assigned to Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental province, as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo City and Bacolod City, following a directive from the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Police are facing criticism across the country for various TikTok posts showing law enforcement officers in uniform foolishly dancing and engaging in other activities.
Wanky urged propriety and suggested that they post on TikTok during their personal time.
He said uniformed police officers can only post on TikTok if it is permitted or during official functions.
