Gab and Kiana Valenciano are among special guests who will appear in Gary V’s “Pure Energy: One More Time” concert, set for December 20 and 22 at the Araneta Coliseum.
Gab is excited about it.
“Every time I perform with dad, it’s something else,” he said. “It’s always special.”
But this one is exceptional.
“There’s a bit of nostalgia to it,” Gab related. “Dad had his first-ever big performance sa Araneta so, I know that it’s going to be an emotional thing for him. And to be part of it is special for me.”
“I grew up watching my dad perform and you know, the idea that this is going to be the last he would do, is something huge. This is going to be memorable for sure,” he added.
But Gary made clear, “This is not the last last, you know what I mean? Maybe last for bigger venues like Araneta but I am not retiring. Not yet. Slowing down maybe. I could still perform in smaller venues.”
Note “Pure Energy: One More Time” is a repeat of his successful “Pure Energy: One Last Time” concert held last April at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Paolo, Gary V’s eldest son, will still be directing the show while Gab and Kiana will perform with him.
“I’m going to perform several numbers and not just dance like the usual but sing as well,” Gab said, smiling. “I think that is something new that people might want to see.”
Is he happy that his dad is somehow slowing down after several health scares?
“Not exactly happy, as I still want to see him go out there and do what he does best but I also feel like he deserves a bit of rest. He is an icon already. I don’t know. I think at this point he is still trying to reconfigure things a bit and see what he can do moving forward so, let’s see,” said Gab.
What about him, we asked.
“Actually, to be honest, I’m moving towards another direction too,” Gab intimated. “I don’t want to sound ungrateful because show business has been very good to me but I’m working my way out of the (entertainment) industry. I’m venturing into something new. But I can’t say too much about it for now.”
Asked for a hint, Gab relented and said, “It’s something that I’ve been working on for the longest time. Like this is my ultimate goal. It’s about connecting people. Anyway, we’re going to make an announcement in the coming months and you would certainly know about it. For now, the focus is on the concert and we will definitely give our all as a family.”
“Pure Energy: One More Time,” is also to feature SB19, Martin Nievera, and Regine Velasquez, among many others.
