Cheik Diallo broke out of his shooting slump and steered Converge to a 102-91 victory over NLEX to get back on the winning track in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
The NBA veteran had a subpar performance last time out after being limited to just 13 points in the loss to NorthPort but made sure to bounce back this time with a double-double of 37 points and 18 rebounds to go with two blocks and two steals.
Diallo was at the forefront of the fourth quarter attack, dropping 14 of his total as the FiberXers kept the Road Warriors at bay to improve to 3-2 record in the standings.
Jordan Heading provided support with a double-double of 14 points and 11 assists as Alec Stockton added 16.
Mike Watkins exploded for 36 points and 23 rebounds while Robert Bolick had 26 points and six assists.
The FiberXers led by as many as 12 in the contest but the Road Warriors battled back and came within two, 82-84, in the final frame.
Stockton buried a trey and a jumper to trigger a 9-0 run to restore order for the FiberXers.
