Politician-film producer Luis “Chavit” Singson is never stingy when it comes to giving advice.
He is always ready to dispense one, particularly relating to money.
Apparently, he believes in paying it forward, relating he wouldn’t have gotten to where he is sans good counsel.
“Kailangan lang naman diyan e, marunong kang makinig,” he told us. “Wala namang mawawala sa’yo. Ako, personally, malaki ang utang na loob ko sa mabubuting tao na gumabay at nagbigay payo sa akin noong nagsisimula pa lamang ako.”
According to Manong Chavit, knowledge is key to financial success.
“Hindi lang kung paano ka kumita, importante rin maintindihan mo kung paano mo palalaguin ang pera mo,” he related.
“Ang problema e, yung nasa laylayan ng ating community. 77 percent ng ating mga kababayan ay walang bank account dahil nade-deny sila for one reason or another. Either kulang ang papeles o dahil napakaliblib ng kanilang lugar. Paano sila makakasabay?”
In a move to revolutionize financial inclusion in the country, the senatorial candidate thought of creating the VBank app.
He said, “Ang VBank ay isang proyekto na personal kong ginastos mula sa aking bulsa, dahil naniniwala akong malaking tulong ito para sa bawat Pilipino. Digital banking ang tawag dito. Kung may telepono ka, mada-download ito. Magkakaroon kayo ng bank account without going to the bank.”
Layunin ko na mapadali ang buhay ng mga tao sa pamamagitan ng digital banking, kung saan ang mga serbisyo tulad ng bank accounts at credit cards ay magiging accessible kahit sa malalayong lugar.”
VBank enables users to open a bank account entirely through the app, eliminating the need for tedious paperwork and long queues. Users can send money to all banks and digital wallets, pay bills, and even purchase mobile loads.
With over 6,000 cash-in outlets nationwide—including Tambunting Pawnshops, Puregold, and Alfamart—VBank ensures seamless transactions even for those in remote areas.
Actress Aiai delas Alas, a good friend of Manong Chavit, related, “Ako naniniwala ako sa adhikain na ito. It’s about time na bigyan natin ng opportunity ang ating mga kababayan sa mga liblib na lugar na magkaroon ng financial empowerment.”
Adding excitement to the launch, Singson announced the 58 Days Pa-Raffle ni Manong Chavit, a campaign aimed at engaging users and spreading awareness of VBank’s convenient features.
From the day of the launch, 58 winners will take home 5,800 pesos each.
There will also be one winner of 58,000 pesos daily.
The grand prize of 580,000 pesos will be won by one lucky winner on the 58th day after the launch.
To join, users simply need to download the VBank app, create an account, and follow Singson’s official Facebook page for updates.
VBank’s launch reflects its commitment to addressing the challenges faced by unbanked and underserved communities.
