Businesswoman Robina Pe was so delighted with the how University of the Philippines and La Salle fought tooth and nail for UAAP Season 87 glory that she surprised her business associates and friends when she took to social media to express her contentment.
On her social media post on Tuesday, Dec. 17, Pe also congratulated La Salle president Br. Bernie Oca for the tense-filled best-of-three title series.
“Congratulations dearest Br. Bernie Oca (DLSU President) for a scintillating series,” Pe wrote.
“This is not a rivalry but a partnership to make UAAP basketball the best in the country,” she added. “Animo! UP Fight!”
The finals ended with the Diliman-based team snaring the crown after outlasting La Salle, 66-62, in front of a record 25,000 fams at the Araneta Coliseum where other notable business magnates and personalities watched live.
Pe, daughter of business tycoon John Gokongwei who founded JG Summit Holdings, is also known as a major backer of the UP men’s basketball team.
Also a UP Diliman alumna, Pe also supports other sporting events participated by UP student-athletes.
