Rain or Shine big man Beau Belga has joined an elite company after becoming the league’s 98th member of the 5000-point club.
The bruising but sweet-shooting forward was presented his award in the halftime of the Elasto Painters’ 102-100 escape over the Magnolia Hotshots on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Belga achieved the feat in ROS’ 99-81 victory over Eastern last Dec. 4 after a drive to the basket at the 30.2 mark of the final frame.
The 38-year-old center is the 13th active player on the list and the third player in franchise history to achieve the feat joining Jay Washington and Gabe Norwood.
It’s quite a feat for the enforcer known more for his defensive abilities and not being the first option on offense.
It was not entirely surprising though given how Belga has become one of the most lethal stretch five during his 13-year tenure with the Elasto Painters.
Norwood, also known more as a defensive lynchpin, was the last to join the 5K club before Belga after also achieving the milestone early this year.
