President Marcos has authorized gratuity pay for contract of service and job order workers in government for fiscal year 2024 through Administrative Order No. 28.
Eligible workers must have completed at least four months of satisfactory service by December 15, 2024, to receive a one-time gratuity payment not exceeding P7,000.
Those with less than four months may receive a prorated amount.
The gratuity pay applies to on-site workers, though those under alternative work arrangements may also be considered, depending on agency discretion and fund availability.
This order, dated December 19, encompasses workers engaged by national government agencies, state universities, government-owned corporations, and local water districts, with payments commencing on December 15.
The rationale for this recognition highlights the essential contributions of these workers in implementing government programs, especially during current socio-economic challenges.
Notably, while these workers receive wages comparable to regular government employees, they lack access to benefits such as mid-year and year-end bonuses, performance-based bonuses, and personnel economic relief allowances.
Additionally, President Marcos previously authorized a service recognition incentive of P20,000 for all government employees. (Betheena Unite)
