Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang broke down Denice “The Menace” Zamboanga’s upcoming fight against Alyona Rassohyna for the ONE Interim Atomweight MMA World Title.
Safe to say, he likes his compatriot’s chances.
Adiwang believes Zamboanga will have the edge when she shoots for that elusive ONE gold against Rassohyna in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 27 on Saturday, January 11, inside Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
“She’s got all the advantages in this fight for sure, and this is her fight for the taking,” he said.
The 31-year-old emphasized Zamboanga’s boxing as the Filipina’s main tool, a weapon she used to perfection in her fight against Noelle Grandjean.
Adiwang has no doubt Zamboanga will come in the more dominant fighter if the fight stays on the feet.
“Striking-wise, I think for as long as she has prepared for it, she’ll have the advantage because of her boxing. She also has kicks in her arsenal. It might come in sparingly, but it’s powerful,” he said.
“Her boxing is really sharp. She’s got the sharper hands. She’s also got power in those hands.”
And if it turns out to be a grappling war? The SOMA Fight Club representative is confident that Zamboanga has the tools to defend and the size to control her opponent.
“When it comes to the ground game, I think she can stop Alyona’s takedowns. She’s got the skills and the strength to do so. She’s also bigger, and I feel like her size advantage will be crucial in this fight,” Adiwang said.
