The Cignal HD Spikers suffered a big blow after key players Ces Molina and Riri Meneses decided not to renew their contracts with the team.
Avior Talent Management, which handles Molina and Meneses, announced the development on Thursday, Jan. 9, a week before the resumption of the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.
“Avior Talent Management expresses its most sincere gratitude towards Cignal HD Spikers Management for all the opportunities it had given to Frances Xinia Molina and Marivic Meneses over the past three years as they have decided to part ways with the team,” the statement read.
“We wish nothing but the best for the team,” it added.
Molina has been part of the HD Spikers since 2022 where she won the Conference Most Valuable Player in the 2023 Invitationals. The 30-year-old outside hitter also won the First Best Outside Spiker in the 2022 Open Conference and Second Best Outside Spiker in the 2022 Invitationals.
Meneses, for her part, has also been playing for the HD Spikers since 2022 where she won the Second Best Middle Blocker in the 2022 Open Conference and the Second Best Middle Blockers in the 2023 Second All-Filipino.
The duo also anchored Cignal to a number of podium appearances including a bronze medal in the 2024 Reinforced Conference and a runner-up finish in the Invitationals the same year.
The HD Spikers are currently at No. 2 in the standings of the ongoing conference with a 4-1 record.
