Police are investigating the death of a father and his four-year-old daughter whose bodies were found hanging side by side inside the house of their relative in Barangay Pio del Pilar, Makati City on Monday, Jan. 13.
According to police authorities, the girl’s father, 22, was asked to take care of the house of his sibling who went on a vacation.
Prior to the discovery of the grim scene, the child’s grandmother told the police that she failed to contact her son to remind him of the girl’s return to school that day. This prompted her to visit the house to check on the two.
Upon arrival at the house, the grandmother sought the help of the building owner to open door since it was locked from inside.
They were shocked upon seeing the father and daughter hanging side by side and already dead inside the house.
The man was found with an electric cord looped around his neck while his daughter was found with shoe laces tied around her neck.
Police said there were no indications that the man was under the influence of illegal drugs at the time of his death.
Investigators learned that the girl’s father and his wife have reportedly been estranged since November 2024.
The incident is still under investigation to determine if it was a case of murder and suicide, probers said. (Patrick Garcia)
