Top cockfighters from around the world excitedly competed in the first round of the elimination of the 2025 World Slasher Cup 9-Cock Invitational Derby on Monday, Jan. 20, at the historic Smart Araneta Coliseum.
A total of 114 matches were held in the opening day of the event dubbed as the Olympics of cockfighting.
Among those who fielded their entries were four-time World Slasher Cup champion Tata Rey Briones, Dennis Lumpay, Doc Ronnie Magbalon, Felix Punzalan, Dicky Lim, Fiscal Villanueva, Jimmy Junsay, Ricky Magtuto, Doc Belle Almojera, James Uy, Darrel Mack, Paul Romias, Boy Sia, Nene Araneta, and eight-time World Slasher Cup champion Frank Berin.
Competitors with 2-0 record will move on to the 3-cock semi-finals on January 22, Wednesday.
