Carlo “The Bull” Bumina-ang will have the luxury of some advanced scouting ahead of his second fight in ONE Championship.
He’s targeting a bounce-back victory against Song Min Jong in a bantamweight MMA bout at ONE Fight Night 28 this Saturday, Feb. 8, inside Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The good news for Bumina-ang? He has the perfect men to help prepare him for this bout. His teammate in former ONE Flyweight MMA World Champion Geje Eustaquio has already conquered the Korean fighter in the past.
Song’s last loss came at flyweight, where he was dominated by Eustaquio, and “The Bull” is maximizing his time with “Gravity” as he prepares for this bout.
“I’ve had the opportunity to pick kuya Geje’s brain regarding their fight. He told me that I have so many advantages in this fight. In that fight, kuya Geje controlled him with his striking and some well-timed takedowns, and he’s giving me some pointers on how to utilize that tactic as well,” he said.
“I believe Geje’s got him read, and I think this will give me a lot of boost when it comes to formulating a game plan to counter him.”
That said, he knows he can get taken into deep waters by the Korean given his toughness in the Circle.
“He’s got a tough chin, he’s also got a great gas tank, excellent endurance. He’s really strong too, which he uses well in his wrestling,” he said.
“On the striking end, he’s got some loaded kicks.”
Still, Bumina-ang is confident that he’s got the speed to shock his opponent on the feet and the power to put him away in any position, at any time.
“Between the two of us, I’m the faster man. I feel like I have the speed advantage. In terms of striking, I think I’m also the heavier hitter between us,” he said.
“When it comes to the ground, I’m confident that I can neutralize him there as well. At the end of the day, my speed and striking will be my main advantages.”
