Filipina Jennifer Aimee “Jenn” Uy hopes to make history as she vies in the Ultraman Florida 2025, a three-day triathlon event that will be held from Feb. 14 to 16 in Central Florida.
First launched in 2014, the Ultraman Florida event features 517 kilometers of swimming, biking, and running challenges that will certainly test the limits of athletes’ physical and mental endurance.
The event also serves as a qualifier for the Ultraman World Championships in Hawaii, where Uy hopes to become first Filipino to compete in the biggest and most challenging event.
To conquer the Florida contest, Uy will have to brave a 10-kilometer stage of swimming, a lung-busting 423-kilometer of bike ride, and an 84-kilometer stretch of running.
Despite the grueling task ahead, 37-year-old Uy is no stranger to these sorts of trials, having started her triathlon journey in 2016 after transitioning from long-distance running.
Ever since she was crowned female champion in her ultramarathon debut in a local 50-kilometer race, the Energy Development Corp. executive has made impressive podium finishes in several big-time events.
Her biggest claim to fame so far was topping the 102KM Bataan Death March in 2023, apart from competing in the 2023 IRONMAN World Championship.
She also finished third overall among women in the 2024 Century Tuna IRONMAN Philippines, becoming the top Filipina performer in the event.
