After her successful debut series “Magandang Dilag,” Sparkle star Herlene Budol is back on GMA Afternoon Prime in the newest story about love and sweet revenge, “Binibining Marikit.”
Beginning February 10, Herlene brings to life the role of Marikit, a funny but feisty member of an indigenous tribe, Dumagat Remontado, who serves as a tour guide of their family’s travel company.
Said Herlene of her new role, “Mas better ako rito kesa sa ‘Magandang Dilag’ kasi una ko ‘yun. Dito naitama ko na kung ano ang mga mali at kulang ko sa pag-arte dati.”
Adding more depth to her story are award-winning actress and comedian Pokwang, highly-talented actor Tony Labrusca, and model-turned-leading man Kevin Dasom.
Joining them in the show are Almira Muhlach, Thea Tolentino, and Cris Villanueva. Completing the star-studded cast are Ashley Rivera, Jeff Moses, Migs Almendras, and John Feir.
When wealthy and powerful people plan to take the land away from the Dumagat Remontados, Marikit must do everything to protect their heritage, community, and even her relationship with her father.
Aside from trying to save their legacy and culture, Marikit also tries to fill the void that her mother caused by leaving them years ago.
Marikit finds comfort through a dating app, where she meets the man of her dreams. Everything feels straight out of a fantasy for Marikit and her Internet boyfriend. But her world turns upside down after getting caught in a love scam.
Said series director Jorron Lee Monroy, “The show will be different visually compared to ‘Magandang Dilag.’ Yung aesthetics nito more provincial, mga nature scenes…it is basically a romantic-comedy with a sprinkling of drama. We know our audience and we aim to give them what they want.”
“Binibining Marikit” is produced by the GMA Entertainment Group, headed by Senior Vice President Lilybeth G. Rasonable, Vice President for Drama Cheryl Ching-Sy, Assistant Vice President for Drama Helen Rose S. Sese, Senior Program Manager Antonio R. Pastorpide, and Executive Producer Lenie Santos.
The show’s creative team consists of Creative Director Aloy Adlawan, Creative Head Des Garbes-Severino, Senior Creative Consultant Kit Villanueva-Zapata, Creative Consultant Agnes Gagelonia-Uligan, Head Writer Marlon G. Miguel, Writers Christine Novicio, Patrick Louie Ilagan, and Nehemiarey Dallego, and Brainstormer Dang Sulit-Marino.
Catch “Binibining Marikit” from Mondays to Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. on GMA Afternoon Prime.
Global Pinoys can also watch the program via GMA Pinoy TV.
