National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Jaime B. Santiago said yesterday he has assigned a team of investigators to look into the complaint filed by disc jockey and media influencer Jellie Aw against her fiancé Jam Ignacio who allegedly beat her up.
Santiago made the move after Aw went to his office to file the complaint.
“Nasa VAWCD (Violence Against Women and Children Division) ang case,” said Santiago.
Aw went to the NBI after posting a viral video showing her battered face which she claimed was a result of the physical maltreatment by Ignacio.
According to her, the mauling was triggered by simple jealousy.
It wasn’t the first time.
Atty. Yehlen Agus, chief of the NBI Violence Against Women and Children Division (VAWCD), related how Aw was able to escape the clutches of Ignacio when their RFID failed at a toll gate.
Asked if she is willing to forgive her fiance, Aw retorted, “Madali lang naman magpatawad e pero ‘yung ginawa niya sakin, hindi ko makakalimutan ‘yun. Iba ‘yung trauma e.”
Agus is urging Ignacio to surrender himself to the NBI “para makakabawas pa ‘yan sa kinakaharap na kaso.”
Ignacio could face charges of physical abuse under the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.
Ignacio is the former boyfriend of actress Carla Estrada.
