Andrew Nicholson and SJ Belangel formed a lethal 1-2 combo and propelled the Daegu KOGAS Pegasus over the Goyang Sono Skygunners, 88-79, in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) Sunday, March 2.
Tied at 67-all, Nicholson and Belangel exploited the absence of injured big man Alan Williams by orchestrating a searing 16-5 run that put Pegasus on top, 83-72, which they wisely protected to prevail.
Nicholson finished with 20 points and 9 rebounds while Belangel tallied 19 points, two rebounds, eight assists and two steals. Kim Nak-Hyeon and Shin Sheung-Min added 19 and 17 points, respectively, for Daegu.
Quiambao, who tried to save Goyang in the endgame, posted 17 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals while Williams also had 17 points despite being out with seven and a half minutes left in the game.
Despite the loss, the two-time UAAP MVP recorded his ninth straight game in double figures.
The Pegasus improved to 22-18 at fifth place while the Skygunners slipped to 14-27 slate at ninth.
Meanwhile, the Suwon KT Sonicboom held off the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus, 62-56, to clinch their third straight triumph despite JD Cagulangan being held to just three points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Suwon hiked its card to 24-17 at fourth behind Ulsan, which has a 24-16 mark.
