Reelectionist Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa on Tuesday, March 25, said he understands why his security detail had been recalled by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Dela Rosa disclosed in an interview that he learned about the recall of his security detail upon his arrival in Davao on March 24.
Pina re-report na sila sa unit nila,” the senatorial candidate said in a phone interview.
Nevertheless, Dela Rosa said he finds nothing wrong if they are pulled out, saying he understands that the authorities in Davao are trying to avoid any problems.
Nevertheless, Dela Rosa said his movements are not limited, saying he is still going around to campaign.
“Bakit ko ili-limit ang sarili ko? Kung may warrant na, ‘yun na, wala mang warrant,” he said referring to the possibility of the International Criminal Court (ICC) already having an arrest warrant issued against him.
“Wala talaga. Wala akong information kung kelan maglabas (ng warrant),” he pointed out.
He, however, appealed for understanding from his critics, saying he finds it necessary to change his strategy should the arrest warrant the ICC be implemented against him.
According to Dela Rosa, he has to “adjust” based on President Marcos’ actions.
“Pabago-bago nga ang (isip ng) ating Presidente, ako pa, hindi magbabago,” Dela Rosa said during a radio interview.
As a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), Dela Rosa said he is used to planning different strategies in dealing with any crisis as part of his survival.
(Hannah Torregoza)
