JD Cagulangan made the most out of his longest playing time in Korean Basketball League (KBL), helping the Suwon KT Sonicboom score an 88-85 win over the Anyang JKJ Red Boosters on Monday, March 31.
The Sonicboom got off to a strong start that saw them race to a commanding 44-24 lead, an advantage they gallantly protected to prevail.
Despite committing six turnovers, Cagulangan was still a big factor in the team’s victory as he played 34 minutes– his most since joining the tournament last January– and tallied 11 points, four rebounds, eight assists, and two steals that boosted Suwon to its fifth consecutive victory.
It was also the eighth double-digit performance in the pro ranks for the two-time UAAP MVP with a career-high 15 points in their 76-74 loss to SJ Belangel and the Daegu KOGAS Pegasus on Jan. 16.
Suwon now improved to 32-19 – tied at second spot with his fellow former UP star Carl Tamayo and the Changwon LG Sakers.
Javi Gomez de Liaño, also a former UP player, registered 11 points, eight rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal for Anyang.
This marked the third time that Cagulangan and de Liaño faced one another with the former going ahead 2-1 in their face-off this year.
