TACLOBAN CITY – Albuera, Leyte mayoral candidate Kerwin Espinosa was wounded when he was shot at a campaign rally at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, in Barangay Tinag-an.
Carl Kevin Batistis, who is running for councilor in Albuera, confirmed the report through a social media post.
Kerwin, a self-confessed drug lord, was sitting beside his sister Mariel, who is his running mate, when he was shot.
A girl who was present during the rally was also wounded during the shooting.
Authorities have yet to release details on the incident.
His camp, however, said that he was taken to a hospital in Ormoc City, Leyte, and was safe.
