Ricky Davao passes away at 63

Seasoned actor and television director Ricky Davao, has died.

He was 63.

The sad news was confirmed by his daughter, Ara, via social media, Friday, May 2.

The post read:

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Ricky Davao. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children and loved ones, after bravely facing complications related to cancer.

“For more than four decades, he dedicated his life to the craft of acting and directing. His remarkable body of work and award-winning performances have left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire. Most of all he was a loving father, brother, son, and friend.

“We are deeply grateful for your prayers, love, and kind messages during this difficult time. Details about his memorial service will be shared soon.”

The son of the late actor Charlie Davao and Emma Marie Abiera was born Frederick Charles Caballes Davao on May 30, 1961.

He started his showbiz career as dancer for Vicor Records before transitioning to acting in the late 70s.

He would earn numerous acting awards along the way, including the 2020 FAMAS Best Supporting Actor award for “Fuccbois,” 2017 FAMAS Best Supporting Actor award for “Deliver Us,” 1990 Winner FAMAS Best Supporting Actor award for “Abot Hanggang Sukdulan,” 2000 Gawad Urian Best Actor award for “The Kite,” and the 2002 FAP Best Actor award for “Minsan May Isang Puso.”

Ricky has also appeared in several plays and musicals, even as he also directed a good number of TV shows.

Among his last works as actor were the musical “Silver Lining” in 2023, and the films “Sosyal Climbers” (2025) and “Sinagtala (2025).

He was previously married to actress-singer Jackie Lou Blanco, with whom he has three children: Ara, Rikki and Kenneth.

He has been in a relationship with Mayeth Malca Darocca, for some time prior to his demise.
