A total of 37 student-prisoners at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa received their diplomas during the 29th graduation rites of the University of Perpetual Help Bilibid Extension School on May 24.
NBP officials said 18 prisoners earned their degrees in Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship while 19 others finished their course in Computer Hardware Servicing inside NBP. They also completed their internship while in prison.
To date, UPH’s extension school has produced more than 500 graduates since it was established in 1985. Last year, 17 prisoners graduated with Entrepreneurship degrees and some of those who were released from the NBP are currently employed.
