BAGUIO CITY – Celebrities onboard flower floats drew wild cheers and loud shrieks from the thousands who watched the grand street dance parade during the annual Flower Festival or “Panagbenga” in the City of Pines on Sunday.
The cast of the teleserye “Ang Probinsyano,” led by Coco Martin and Maja Salvador together with Pepe “Benny” Herrera and child actor Simon “Onyok” Pineda, caught the crowd’s attention as they paraded the city’s main thoroughfare onboard the ABS-CBN float garbed with a giant police pershing cap up front and made full by designs and figures of fresh flowers all over it. Both Coco and Maja play honest and hard-working police officers in the teleserye.
Coco, Maja, “Benny,” and “Onyok” untiringly sang different upbeat tunes while managing the two-kilometer parade route lined by thousands of locals and tourists who shouted with joy as the celebrities passed them by.
The cast of “Ang Probinsyano” were in Baguio over the weekend for the ABS-CBN “Kapamilya Fans Karavan” concert on Saturday at Burnham Park, which drew people to the area until evening.
Real-life comedian couple Jason Francisco and Melai Cantiveros was the main attraction of M. Lhuillier’s floral float that took the shape of an airplane. The crowd raved as Jason placed a flower on Melai’s head.
Joining the “Probinsyano” stars were “Pasion de Amor’s” lead actors Jake Cuenca, Joseph Marco, and Ejay Falcon.
M. Lhuillier’s and ABS-CBN’s, both entries under the large float category, joined 23 other floats which paraded the city’s streets on Sunday morning. (LIZA T. AGOOT)
