MISS Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach arrived in the Philippines on March 25, Good Friday, three weeks ahead of the 2016 Bb. Pilipinas grand coronation night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City on April 17.
The arrival of the Filipino-German beauty queen was unannounced as she was expected to come home again sometime next month.
Organizers of the Bb. Pilipinas pageant and the Miss Universe Organization have yet to release a statement on the itinerary of Wurtzbach.
Wurtzbach, 26, made her first homecoming to the Philippines as Miss Universe in January, after she won the title in Las Vegas, Nevada in December.
Since then, the beauty queen has made New York City her second home during her reign as Miss Universe.
Hours after she arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Parañaque City, a photo of the beauty queen being escorted by security personnel in Cebu City went viral.
“Back in sunny Manila!” said Wurtzbach in a post on social media.
Earlier, she said on her post: “Flying to somewhere warm today. Let the guessing game begin again.”
“Can’t wait to be back home soon and wear a Filipiniana again. Won’t be so long, I hope,” said another post.
With her early arrival to the country, Wurtzbach is expected to attend the press presentation of the 2016 Binibining Pilipinas beauty contest at the Novotel in Cubao, Quezon City on Tuesday, March 29.
Few days ago, Wurtzbach surprised fans when she and Russian born Dr. Mikhail Varshavski confirmed that they were dating.
“In a relationship with Dr. Mikhail Varshavski,” said Wurtzbach in her Facebook.
But Wurtzbach has maintained that her duties as Miss Universe are still her priorities. (Robert R. Requintina)
