ACTRESS Gretchen Barretto has endorsed Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. for vice president in the 2016 national elections.
“Senator Bong Bong Marcos for Vice President. The key to the new beginning Marcos pa rin,” said Barretto on Instagram. It was accompanied with a photo of a red Bongbong Marcos wrist band placed on top of a bunch of keys.
Barretto, 46, is the common-law partner of business tycoon Antonio “Tony Boy” Cojuangco, former chairman of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company, the biggest telecommunication provider in the country. They have a daughter named Dominique who studies in London.
Antonio is the second cousin of President Benigno Aquino III and nephew to the late President Corazon Cojuangco Aquino.
Barretto’s endorsement was met with admiration and jubilation from her followers on social media.
“I admire your courage and principle Miss Gretchen Baretto. Your common-law husband is related to the Aquinos and the Aquinos are strongly campaigning against Bongbong Marcos yet here you are openly campaigning for BBM. You are indeed a woman of substance,” an Instagram follower said.
“Sabihin pa nila na corrupt ang Marcos regime pero ung totoo sya ang mas maraming nagawa para bansa,” another IG follower commented.
“Yeah, Marcos pa rin! I’m happy that you’re supporting him. Cheers for his victory!” a follower also said.
Barretto, however, did not reveal her choice for the presidency.
