ACTOR Matteo Guidicelli has said that he has so much respect for waiters, especially the good ones, because of their difficult job.
Guidicelli realized how hard it was to be a waiter when he became one for their family restaurant called Trattoria da Gianni which opened in Banilad, Cebu City recently.
“I’m a waiter. That’s my part-time job now. Now I know in America why the waiters and servers say, ‘Where’s my service charge? Where’s my tip?’ “ said Guidicelli, during an interview in “Tonight with Boy Abunda” aired over ABS-CBN.
“I gained respect for waiters now. Being a waiter is not an easy job,” said the actor, who is currently seen in the Kapamil-ya primetime teleserye “Dolce Amore.”
“I, my sister and my father are training the staff so I want to experience it myself. All my life I just travel around. Now I just wanted to do it myself. I wanted to handle tables,” he said.
Guidicelli, 26, also said that the restaurant experience gets him to meet different kinds of people from cool to the weird ones.
“Mahirap talagang ma-ging waiter. So all the waiters out there, you have my respect, especially the good waiters. They are so amazing,” he said.
Guidicelli also said that his girlfriend Sarah Geronimo has not really tried the food in his family’s restaurant.
“She came on opening day and that time we just had a set meal. Next time siguro,” he said.
Asked about Geronimo’s favorite food, Guidicelli said: “Lechon.”
Guidicelli was born and raised in Cebu. The actor is also a singer and an athlete. His grandfather is the late Senator and Chief Justice Marcelo Fernan. (Robert R. Requintina)
