Mommy Dionisia Pacquiao, mother of boxing champ Manny Pacquiao, celebrated her 67th birth anniversary in General Santos City last May 15 in style with the theme royal blue inspired by reigning Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
Some 700 guests attended the birthday celebration of Mommy D which also served as thanksgiving for the Pacquiao brothers who won in the 2016 elections held last May 9.
Rep. Manny is expected to be proclaimed as one of 12 winners in the senatorial polls this week, brother Bobby won as one of 12 councilors in lone district of General Santos City, and sibling Rogelio, for lone district representative of Sarangani.
“Proud ako na naging mother ko kayo. Kung walang Mommy D, walang Manny Pacquiao,” said the future senator in his message to his mother.
Reports said that the birthday party was a gift of Manny Pacquiao to his mother.
The Pac-mom also said that she is so happy to celebrate her birthday with all of their relatives and friends around.
“Masayang-masaya ako dahil lahat ng kamag-anak ko nandito. Naalala ko ’yung sinabi ni Manny nung kahirapan namin at itinaguyod ko sila na maging mabuting mga anak,” said Mommy D, in an interview for “TV Patrol” news program on ABS-CBN.
Mommy D emerged from the stage wearing a royal blue evening gown inspired by Wurtzbach. Her cake also carried the Miss Universe motif. She also hopes to meet Wurtzbach in the future. Mommy D also sang and danced during the party.
Michael Yamson, 40, boyfriend of Mommy D for three years now, serenaded the celebrity mom with the song “Stay the Same.”
Asked about marriage plans, Yamson said: “God’s will na kami nga ay ikakasal, tatanggapin namin ‘yun dahil ako anytime ready na.”
Reacting to her boyfriend’s marriage plans, Mommy D said: “Hindi pwedeng basta basta magmadali. Pag-isipan muna naming dalawa.”
Mommy D wished that the Lord would bless her long life, according to “Chika Minute” portion of “24 Oras” news program over GMA 7.
