Globalport Batang Pier outlasted Barangay Ginebra in overtime, 113-106, to assure themselves of a spot in the PBA Governors Cup quarterfinals.
Globalport drew sterling performances from Jay Washington and Sol Mercado to notch their fourth win in five games.
Washington finished with a career-high 30 points and hauled down 14 rebounds while swatting away 5 shots as well in what would have to be his best performance under the Mikee Romero-owned franchise.
Globalport could have won the game in regulation but Jayjay Helterbrand came Ginebra’s rescue when he drilled a three-pointer to knot the count at 101-all.
With 4.2 seconds remaining, Washington received the ball but his fadeaway attempt failed to hit its mark.
