The Cagayan Valley Rising Suns will be in full force when they battle the Zambales M-Builders on Tuesday in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Arellano Gym.
After missing Thursday’s game, collegiate players John Pinto, Price Caperal, Michale Mabulac and Ken Ighalo – done with their tour of duty with their respective school teams – join the Rising Sun in their quest for a second straight win against newcomer and fellow opening day winner M-Builders at 4 o’clock.
Cagayan Valley launched its campaign with an 83-74 victory against Café France behind the explosive effort of rookie Don Trollano, who tallied a game-high 22 points and 11 rebounds.
M-Builders, on the other hand, turned to Jett Vidal in the fourth quarter to subdue Derulo Accelero, 79-73. Vidal finished with 21 points, including four 3-point shots in the fourth.
Four more teams also make their debut Tuesday in the league’s season opening conference with newcomer Banco de Oro battling Jumbo Plastic at 12 noon and Boracay Rum taking on Derulo Accelero at 2 p.m.
“I thought we’re just lucky to win our first game. We still lack chemistry and short-handed. Hopefully, we’ll be able play lot better next game with our collegiate players joining the team on Tuesday,” said Cagayan Valley coach Alvin Pua.
M-Builders coach Junel Mendiola expects another tough match but promised to give the Rising Suns good fight.
