The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters registered a 94-89 victory over the Meralco Bolts to stay clean in the PLDT MyDSL Philippine Cup held at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
Four free throws by Beau Belga in the final seconds of the match allowed the Elasto Painters to clinch the win in the close match which almost got away from RoS when a crucial jump ball was called between Belga and the Bolts Mike Cortez.
In the main game, Alaska Aces gave team owner Wilfred Uytengsu a fitting 52nd birthday gift when they handily defeated the San Mig Coffee Mixers, 84-80.
The Aces controlled the match practically all throughout as they weathered a late surge by the Mixers.
However the Aces put together an 8-0 run at the start of the payoff period to hold off the Mixers and runaway with their first win of the conference after bowing to the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on opening day, 88-75.
After the match, Alaska team manager announced that the Aces pledged to donate P52,000 for every point in their winning margin for the victims of the “Yolanda” victims.
The eventual total amount that Alaska will donate amounted to P208,000.00.
