Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum is putting the finishing touches on the much-awaited 2014 debut of Manny Pacquiao.
Speaking to the Bulletin yesterday from his Las Vegas home, Arum brushed off reports that Top Rank and Team Pacquiao have added the names of Robert Guerrero and Yuriorkis Gamboa to the list of fighters being eyed to meet the Filipino icon on April 12 in Las Vegas.
“Ridiculous,” said Arum, who has already forwarded offersheets to Tim Bradley and Ruslan Provodnikov of Russia for them to review carefully.
Arum said he had never considered Guerrero or Gamboa as prime candidates to face Pacquiao in the mega-show he is putting up at the MGM Grand.
Arum has actually gone through the details that he is looking forward to the promotional aspect of the Pacquiao headliner.
“The press tour will have stops in Los Angeles and New York,” said Arum, stressing that the more details of the April 12 card will take place after Super Bowl XLVIII at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on February 2.
Bradley is said to be the frontrunner since he and Pacquiao have some sort of an unfinished business resulting from the controversial ending to their June 2012 clash that went Bradley’s favor. (NG)
