Despite the team’s poor performance in the last two conferences, Pido Jarencio will remain as Globalport coach for the coming 40th Season of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
Erick Arejola, Globalport’s alternate governor, yesterday quashed reports that Jarencio is on his way out after the Batang Pier were eliminated in the league’s last two conferences by posting a combined 2-16 record in the Commissioner’s Cup and Governors’ Cup.
“It’s not true, Coach Pido is still our coach,” said Arejola, adding that the ex-pro and onetime University of Santo Tomas mentor has one year left on his contract.
Jarencio, 49, took over as Globalport coach, replacing Ritchie Ticzon. (Waylon Galvez)
