Caida Tiles and Tanduay Light open their campaign in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup which kicks off today with a double-header at the Filoil Arena.
The Tile Masters and Rhum Masters clash at 2 p.m. to start hostilities in the tournament that will formally take the wraps off its fifth season with a simple opening ceremonies at 1 o’clock.
Newcomer UP-QRS-Jam Liner and BDO-National University headlines the other matchup at 4 p.m. between school-based teams.
“With a lot of new faces plus the expected heated rivalry from school-based teams led by reigning UAAP champion Far Eastern University, University of the Philippines, National University, NAASCU champion Café France and AMA on-line Education I can say that the sixth season of the D-League is already a success,” said PBA Deputy Commissioner Rickie Santos.
Tanduay coach Lawrence Chongson said he has recruited a bunch of winners from the collegiate rank making him upbeat about their chances this season.
But he raised some concern about their lack of time to prepare for their season opener.
