Looking to once again regain their championship form, the Ateneo Blue Eagles added another impressive recruit to its already formidable freshman class by securing the services of San Gabriel Academy standout Raffy Verano.
The 6’3” guard-forward from California looks to add more size and versatility to the team under current Smart Gilas National Team head coach Tab Baldwin. During his senior year in high school, where he was also named team captain, Verano bannered his team to championships in the Energy Class tournament and the Westside League, where he earned All-League honors.
Prior to playing for San Gabriel, Verano played for Bellarmine-Jefferson High School for his first three years of high schools where he led his team to multiple championships while also being a part of several All-League teams.
With the departure of key players such as two-time UAAP Most Valuable Player Kiefer Ravena and the sharpshooting Von Pessumal, the Blue Eagles hope that Verano’s size and all-around game could help them make it back to the top.
