Director Joel Pagdilao, chief of the National Capital Region Police Office, has ordered the filing of administrative charges against PO2 Jolly Aliangan of the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group of the NCRPO who was arrested in his home in Balic-Balic, Sampaloc, Manila for allegedly reselling seized illegal drugs and paraphernalia Wednesday.
“I already directed the chief of the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division to initiate administrative case of grave misconduct against Police Officer 2 Jolly Aliangan,” said Pagdilao.
Pagdilao said he also ordered an in-depth investigation why Aliangan had a huge amount of drugs and almost R7 million cash when he was arrested.
“PO2 Aliangan is already relieved from the RAID-SOTG and issued indefinite leave of absence for being detained for his criminal acts,” said Pagdilao.
Philippine National Police spokesman Chief Supt. Wilben Mayor said the immediate superior of Aliangan at the NCRPO should also be made to explain his activities.
A background check has revealed that Aliangan is facing various serious criminal offenses, including robbery and extortion.
“By virtue of command responsibility, they should be investigated as superior officers. Tao mo ’yun eh bakit ganun ang nangyari?” said Mayor.
“That’s the reason why superiors and commanders should be made to explain why despite the records of these particular personnel, he is still with the anti-illegal drugs of the NCRPO,” he added.
This is not the first time that policemen have been dragged into the illegal drugs protection racket.
Incoming PNP head Chief Supt. Ronald dela Rosa said he will obtain the list of policemen who are involved in drugs based on counter-intelligence.
