It’s official: A former beauty queen-turned-policewoman has been accepted as part of the security detail of incoming President Rodrigo Duterte.
Police Inspector Sofia Loren P. Deliu, 24, said that she is now preparing for her new assignment in MalacaƱang.
“Inaayos na ang transfer ko. Umalis na ako sa La Union at naghakot na ako ng gamit. Nagpaalam na ako pero hinihintay pa ang order ko kasi pina-process pa sa Presidential Security Group (PSG),” said Deliu.
President Duterte begins his six-year term after he takes his formal oath of office on June 30, 2016 at 12 noon.
Before Deliu left for the Palace, Deliu was the Public Information Officer of San Fernando City Police Station in La Union.
The Filipino-Romanian police officer also hosted the Philippine National Police TV program “Pulis@URSerbis with PO1 Don McGyver Cochico, the country’s representative to the Manhunt International contest later this year. The program is shown every Saturday, 7-8 p.m. at UNTV Channel 37.
Deliu has been trending on social media the past days after she was seen on various news programs as part of the security group of Duterte.
That time, the former beauty queen has said that she was still not sure if she has been accepted. But this time, she is Palace-bound.
Deliu competed at the Miss Philippines Earth 2015 contest. She is the first female police officer to compete in a major beauty contest in the country after PO2 Neil Perez who won Mister International 2014.
She said that she is still in touch with her batch mates in the Miss Philippines Earth contest and spends time with them.
Deliu started modelling at 14. Later she competed in beauty contests such as Miss Teen Philippines in 2006, and Miss Baguio in 2008. Deliu joined the Philippine National Police in 2014.
