Cignal went to Ysay Marasigan, Lorenzo Capate Jr. and Raymark Woo once again and stormed past Navy, 25-22, 25-13, 25-15, yesterday to claim the first semis berth in the Spikers’ Turf Season 2 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Marasigan scored 11 points built on seven attacks and three blocks while Capate and Woo chipped in seven markers apiece as the HD Spikers remained unbeaten after three matches in the men’s volleyball tournament.
With eight other players scoring for coach Macky Carino, Cignal needed just 62 minutes to defeat Navy,
“Umangat ang performance ng team ko. We are taking things one game at a time,” said Cariño, who added that they will undergo physical conditioning during their two-week break before they play against Instituto Estetico Manila on June 20.
Meanwhile, Air Force rallied in the first set to complete a 27-25, 25-19, 25-17 win over University of the Philippines in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Open Conference.
The Jet Spikers trailed 23-19 and 24-22 in the opening frame but went on a big run to snatch the win from the Lady Maroons.
That win enabled Air Force to take control of the match and tie idle Pocari Sweat for the lead with identical 3-0 slates.
