Actor-commercial model Marx Topacio, boyfriend of reigning Miss Universe Philippines Maxine Medina, has said that he does not want his girlfriend to pose for a men’s magazine but added he cannot do anything about it if she wants to.
“Kung ako, ayokong gawin n’ya ’yun. Pero kung game s’ya dun, OK lang pero alam ko ayaw n’ya ’yun,” said Topacio, during an interview at the casting-call for Modele Philippines 2016 competition held at the BGC in Taguig City recently.
Topacio said that he is supportive of Medina’s quest in the Miss Universe 2016 pageant to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada or in the Philippines later this year.
“Starting July, busy na sya sa training para sa Miss Universe. ’Yun na siguro ‘yung challenge sa amin. S’yempre hindi ako sanay na nagkaroon ako ng girlfriend na beauty queen. Kung gaano kalaki ’yung patience ko noon, siguro dapat mas malaki ngayon,” said Topacio.
The top male model said that he and his girlfriend of five years did not have a hard time discussing in the past about her joining the Binibining Pilipinas beauty pageant.
“Sabi ko sa kanya nuon kung hindi mo gusto, wag n’yang gawin. Then later gusto na n’yang subukan at gawing challenge,” Topacio said.
“Sa acting, tinatanong ko rin naman sya halimbawa kung may dumating sa akin na project at kung dapat ko bang tanggapin ’yun,” he added.
Now that he is not busy with showbiz commitments, Topacio said that he and his friends will be busy in the coming months with their gasoline station business.
“Start na rin ’yung gas station ng group namin so hindi rin ako makakatangap ngayon ng mga projects. Committed ako sa operations nun. Hopefully this year maumpisahan na ’yun,” he said.
Topacio also reminds Medina to enjoy the forthcoming Miss Universe competition.
“Sabi ko lang sa kanya enjoy n’ya lang ginagawa n’ya at wag n’ya isipin ’yung competition at mga negative comments.
Lahat naman ng super hero kasi may villain kaya take it as a challenge para lumakas ang loob nya,” he said.
Topacio said that in many cases, he takes his girlfriend to her training and later fetches her. They try to eat out together as much as possible.
“Sabay na rin kami pumupunta sa gym. Parang ako na rin ang personal trainor nya,” said Topacio, who is also a member of the Professional Models Association of the Philippines.
Topacio is one of the country’s ramp and commercial made models who has walked the runways for fashion designers Jeffrey Rogador, Odelon Simpao, Raoul Ramirez, etc. He has also done commercials for print and television.
The model is a graduate of San Sebastian College Recoletos in Cavite with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Topacio has appeared in teleseryes “Kahit Puso’y Masugatan” (2012), and “Maria Mercedes” (2013), and in movies “The Spider’s Lair,” (2012) and “Ekstra” (2013).
